HOW TO FOCUS ON FAMILY NOT FOOD.
PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT.
Now that Thanksgiving is literally under our belts, did you know that holiday eating is a form of emotional eating? This is what Dr. A says about it: "First of all, understand that eating as a form of celebration is another form of emotional eating. Though we often equate and think of emotional eating as a response to sadness, it can actually be tethered to a range of emotions. Happiness and sadness are powerful emotions, which is why unweaving the Habits of Disease tied to these feelings can be so difficult."
So much of what we do IS emotional eating. I can tell you from my own experience, as I researched for doable, workable solutions, it was only until I came across the blueprint that Dr. A promotes that I myself found results that were in my control to manage. I used to be 50 pounds overweight. I love food. I love holiday traditions and food is a big part of that. But I came to a point in my life where I realized that the choices that I was making were killing me literally. I began to realize that most of the foods that I was choosing either had the nutritional value of cardboard, or in fact were poisoning me causing an inflammatory response that was out of control along with a craving cycle for more, that mimicked something as strong as cocaine use.
I came across this GREAT video if you are a video person. She almost mimics Dr. A's teaching and has lots of great ideas how not to overeat and how to reduce sugar. There are lots of great tips here!
I'm here to tell you that you do have the ability to control eating habits and cravings and learn how to eat consistently healthy and not feel deprived even through the holidays. It may take some time, and this is how we do it: We learn, we focus, we practice and repeat. Let's face it, we all know "what" to do, but we don't know the "how."
